The Hunter’s Hope Foundation, created by Jim and Jill Kelly, will host its annual family and medical symposium beginning Monday.
The 18th Annual Hunter’s Hope Family and Medical Symposium, which continues through July 12 at Holiday Valley Resort in EllicottVille, is an educational week designed for families with children with Krabbe and Leukodystrophies. The symposium will contain a medical portion and a family portion. In addition to over 40 Leukodystrophy families, more than 50 scientists, doctors and researchers are expected to attend.
The Kellys founded the Hunter’s Hope Foundation in 1997 after their infant son was diagnosed with Krabbe leukodystrophy, an inherited fatal nervous system disease.
The medical portion of the symposium will feature experts discussing progress in research, therapies and newborn screenings for Krabbe and Leukodystrophies. The event will also offer a family portion, which will begin with a welcome dinner on Wednesday.
