CURRY, Susan Herrmann

CURRY - Susan Herrmann Of Amherst, NY, passed away June 26, 2015, at the age of 69 in Niagara Falls. She was born in Buffalo on September 7, 1945 to Dr. Jack William Herrmann and Suzanne Hanlon Herrmann, both of whom predeceased her, as did her brother Jack William Herrmann, Jr. She is survived by her sister Gretchen Mary Herrmann (Taylor Peck) of Ithaca. She was blessed with four devoted sons and six grandchildren, who were the lights of her life: Terence Curry (Mia) and son Colin of Amherst, Sean Curry (Amy) and son Daniel of Cheektowaga, Daniel Curry of Amherst and Brendan Curry, and children Ethan, Elyssa, Irelyn and Brenna of Batavia. Susan attended Amherst Schools and later graduated from the Buffalo Seminary in 1964. She went on to earn her RN Degree through the Buffalo General Hospital's Nursing Program and she worked in area hospitals for many years. Her contributions as a nurse and her work to assist others mattered deeply to her. She cared for her father as he aged, as well as her children. Susan was also a devoted member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, serving as secretary for their meetings and she deeply appreciated the fellowship and community support from the Church. Susan loved children, animals and plants, and she leaves behind her beloved kitty, Zoey. She also loved to knit and her custom-made socks warmed many a cold toe. She relished giving gifts to her family and friends and always had a small stash of items to disperse. Susan was also a knowledgeable resource, capable of mobilizing recalcitrant bureaucracies to assist herself and others. Susan's body was donated to the University at Buffalo Medical School to assist further medical research and her ashes will be buried at St. Peter's. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 205 Longmeadow Rd., Eggertsville, NY 14226 or a charity of your choice. A small service for family will be scheduled at the family's convenience.
