Carroll police chief charged with assaulting wife

The chief of a Chautauqua County police department was arrested Friday for allegedly hitting his wife.

State police charged Timothy Wright, of Frewsburg, with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor. Wright, 49, is chief of the Carroll Police Department.

He hit his wife several times during an April argument in Cattaraugus County, troopers said. She was injured in the process.

Wright was ticketed and released. He’s due in Leon Town Court on July 13.
