Daemen joins NFJC effort to improve three city schools

Daemen College will work with the National Federation for Just Communities of Western New York to try and boost academic achievement in Buffalo public high schools.

Daemen will host a four-day summer retreat of administrators, teachers and staff and parents affiliated with three Buffalo high schools that have been designated as pilot-program sites in NFJC’s Institute for Excellence and Equity in Education, The high schools are Riverside, McKinley and South Park.

The program also includes mentoring and tutoring opportunities and training for school-based IEEE team members. It is being funded by a two-year, $360,000 grant from the John R. Oishei Foundation.
