Community Beer Works featured in Hoppy Hour at Marcy Casino

Debates about whether Buffalo's craft-beer market has reached its saturation point seem a little premature, as local beer-based events continue to draw crowds, regardless of their intended scale.

From 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays, beginning tonight, restaurateurs Jason Davidson and Mike Shatzel will host Hoppy Hour, a craft-beer-focused party on the terrace of Marcy Casino in Delaware Park (199 Lincoln Parkway), highlighting beer from a local brewery and pairing it with a clam bake and grilled sausage.

The first brewery in the spotlight is Community Beer Works, a nano-brewery with much bigger aspirations, which Buffalo Rising reported last week. Via CBW's Facebook page, the beers available tonight will be Cask IPA with Citra, Rutherford B. Haze, Frank, the Whale and Spelt Saison. [Go here to read more about these beers]

Admission is a strongly encouraged $5 donation at the door, which will go to the Olmsted Parks Conservancy. Davidson co-owns the Liberty Hound, owns Roux and runs Magnolia Events, while Shatzel is his partner at Liberty Hound, but also owns ABV, The Moor Pat, Blue Monk and Coles.

If you haven't had a chance to check out the Casino's renovated terrace, tonight marks a good chance to wander around, appreciate the improvements and gaze out over Hoyt Lake.
