Rumble signs with Evansville, invited to play for Ottawa in NHL Rookie Tourney

Former Canisius College defenseman Chris Rumble signed a contract with the Evansville IceMen of the ECHL.

Rumble was also invited to play for the Ottawa Senators at the 2015 NHL Rookie Tournament, Sept. 11-13 in London, Ontario. The tournament features prospects from the Sens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens.

Rumble made his professional debut with the IceMen this spring, playing eight games and registering two assists.

In three seasons with the Golden Griffins he had 46 points (14 goals, 32 assists) in 84 games. He is coming off his best season for the Griffs with 20 points (seven goals, 13 assists) and was an Atlantic Hockey First Team selection.

The 25-year-old Rumble was a junior in NCAA eligibility last season but an academic senior. He did not play in the 2011-12 season as he underwent treatment for leukemia.

Plus remember when he gave us a tour of the Griffs new locker room at HarborCenter? Priceless stuff.
