The Sabres have reportedly added depth to their defense, signing 25-year-old Matt Donovan. It’s a one-year deal, says TSN.
Donovan was a fourth-round pick of the New York Islanders in 2008. He has two goals and 17 assists in 67 career games. He had three assists in 12 games last season, then appeared in two playoff games with no points and 10 penalty minutes.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder is an Oklahoma native. He is a left-handed shot, which is something the organization needed, but is not the top-four player of which they are still seeking.
