Varysburg woman accused of spending money she reported stolen

WARSAW – A 38-year-old Varysburg woman has been accused of falsely claiming that someone stole $7,000 cash and $200 in casino chips from her home when she spent the money herself, according to Wyoming County sheriff’s deputies.

Melissa A. Trzecieski, of Maple Lane, was charged Monday with a felony counts of grand larceny and offering a false instrument for filing, and a misdemeanor count of falsely reporting an incident.

Trzecieski reported the thefts occurred June 11, deputies said. It was determined she had taken the money and chips, then staged a burglary.

She spent the money and chips on various items, deputies added.

Following arraignment before Attica Village Justice Julie A. Perry, Trzecieski was sent to the county jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.
