Screenings: ‘The Natural,’ Stones documentary among week's movies

Well, this makes wonderful sense: The North Park Theatre is presenting the favorite film of every dad in Buffalo “The Natural,” at 11:30 a.m.  July 4 and 5.

Seeing the Rockpile and numerous other Buffalo locations on the big screen is a real treat, and few sports films seem more tailor-made for an ornate theater like the North Park. For the full North Park schedule, visit northparktheatre.org.

Also noteworthy this week, get ready for the July 11 Rolling Stones concert at Ralph Wilson Stadium by revisiting the band’s most tragic and violent gig: 1969’s deadly Altamont Free Concert, captured by Albert and David Maysles in the classic documentary “Gimme Shelter.”

The film is screening at two local spots. First, “Shelter” is being presented at 7 and 9:30 p.m. July 2 at the North Park. And it is also showing at 7:30 p.m. July 3, 7, 9, 10, and 11 at the Screening Room in Amherst. For the full Screening Room schedule, visit screeningroom.net.
