World Naked Bike Ride set to roll Saturday night in Buffalo

A group of bicyclists and skaters will put the “buff” in Buffalo Saturday night.

The occasion is the World Naked Bike Ride, a three- to five- mile ride that aims to bring attention to the dangers cyclists and pedestrians face, as well as society’s dependence on non-renewable energy.

The dress code for the event is “bare as you dare.” But participants who are uncomfortable riding around the city in their birthday suits can employ body paint, swim suits and undergarments as acceptable attire.

Organizers warn that police have the right to ticket public nudity, and no alcohol is allowed during the event.

The ride will take place from about 8 to 10 p.m. The location has not been disclosed, but the group’s Facebook page advises participants to gather between 7 and 7:30 p.m. at the park near the corner of North Street and Linwood Avenue.

The World Naked Bike Ride takes place in cities all over the world, but this is Buffalo’s first time hosting the event.
