Prep Talk Player of the Year for boys lacrosse: Larson Sundown, Akron

The #PrepTalkCountdown continues, with just four days until the big night.

We are unveiling the Prep Talk Players of the Year (a total of 36 honorees) as we count down to the Prep Talk Awards, presented by UBMD Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, on June 15 at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo. See the complete countdown list at the bottom of this post.

Larson Sundown

School: Akron

Year: Senior

Twitter: @TheRealLarsonS

#PrepTalkResume: Two-time All-Western New York first-team selection and two-time All-American filled up the record book as he helped lead Akron to its second straight Section VI Class C championship.

Statistics 101: Sundown leaves the high-scoring Tigers program as the second-most prolific scorer in state history with 641 points (behind 2013 Silver Creek graduate Zed Williams) and the state's all-time leader in assists (308) after a senior season in which he set the state's single-season record for points with 202. He is fourth on state's all-time goals list with 333. His 114 goals this season were second only in state history to Connor Fields, last year's Prep Talk Player of the Year winner from Bishop Timon-St. Jude (and current All-American at Albany).

Favorite moment in H.S. competition: "Sharing back-to-back sectional championships with my father."

Favorite teammate: Garrett Schultz.

Toughest opponent (team): Penn Yan.

Toughest opponent (individual): Zed Williams.

Role model: My mom.

Pro/college athlete I look up to: Larry Bird.

I wouldn't be Prep Talk Player of the Year without ... "my family, friends, coaches and teammates."

When I'm not playing or practicing my sport, I'm ... "hanging with family and friends."

What's ahead: Sundown will attend perhaps the top junior college in the country for men's lacrosse in Onondaga Community College.
