Earlene M. Voss, missionary nurse in Pakistan

Earlene M. Voss, a Buffalo native, missionary nurse in Pakistan and a consultant for Muslim Women’s Ministry, died Wednesday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst. She was 86.

Miss Voss, a graduate of East High School, became a registered nurse at Deaconess Hospital in 1949. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University at Buffalo in 1953 and a master’s degree at Columbia International University in 1956.

She worked at the Christar Mission in Pakistan in Village Medical Church Planning Ministry from 1957 to 1993. Ms. Voss went on to consult for the Muslim Women’s Ministry in various countries before retiring in 2009.

An Amherst resident in recent years, she was a Bible teacher and Young at Heart activities director at Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include three brothers, Gordon, David and Peter. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon Friday in Grace Baptist Church, 2525 Eggert Road, Tonawanda.
