LEWISTON – Artfully decorated tables featuring everything from handmade blown glass settings to beautifully styled flowers are always a delight in the annual Tour of Kitchens in Lewiston.
But add to that delicious food prepared by local chefs and you’ve got a proven winner to inspire your next dinner party.
The seventh annual tour will feature self-guided tours through five specially selected homes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and next Sunday.
Tickets are $27 per person and are available in advance until Friday at all Wegmans location and in Lewiston at DiCamillo Bakery, 535 Center St. and the Village Bake Shoppe, 417 Center St. or online at www.tourofkitchens.net. If any tickets are left after Friday, they will be made available on Saturday and Sunday at the Tour of Kitchens tent, at Center and First streets.
When ticket holders arrive at the tent, they will be given a map to the participating homes. At each home they will explore some of the home’s distinctive entertaining and cooking spaces.
The homes are paired with a retailer or decorator who will create a tablescape – an artful way to set a table for guests.
Featured tablescapes will be designed by 5 Foxes Glass, Piccirillo’s Florist, Harris & Lever Florist, Teresa Ruffalo and Judy Villani, Le Creuset of Niagara Falls, NestWell, The Country Doctor, RTM Design and Interiors, Room–Buffalo, Enchanted Florist, All Seasons Rental, Confetti Special Events, and Evergreen Florist.
Each person will also get “a taste,” a culinary sample created by chefs from area restaurants.
Included are: Center Cut: A Village Steakhouse in Lewiston; Wilson Boat House; Sunset Grill in Wilson, Catering by Daniela, Water Street Landing Restaurant in Lewiston; and Hard Rock Café – Niagara USA, Niagara Falls.
All proceeds will benefit the Historical Association of Lewiston and Town of Porter Historical Society.
In addition to the home tours, there also will be a dessert and wine-tasting for ticket holders at the Barton Hill Hotel, featuring desserts from the Village Bake Shoppe and DiCamillo Bakery.
A vendors market – featuring home decor, culinary gifts, jewelry and more – is open to the public both days from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Lewiston No. 1 Fire Hall, 145 N. Sixth St. Twenty vendors will be featured.
Also open to the public from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday only, is the Youngstown in Bloom flower market and perennial sale at the Bistro at Old Fort Inn, 110 Main St., Youngstown. There you will find perennials from members’ gardens, culinary herbs and other garden items for sale.
