Letter: There are bad drivers in every age category

There are bad drivers in every age category

The letter regarding elderly drivers makes a good point. Driving at 90 years old is pushing the envelope. However, to be fair, there are many more bad drivers out there besides the two groups the writer mentioned. Personally, I fear repeat drunken drivers much more than either teenagers or the elderly.

Repeat DWI and DUI offenders should be added to the writer’s list, as well as those who are arrested for road rage issues, those who eat, drink hot coffee, repair their makeup, read maps and do other distracting activities while driving.

If delayed reaction time, impaired mental ability and incompetency are the reasons for asking our lawmakers to take drivers off the roads, we need to make sure we ask for much stiffer penalties for anyone who puts our lives at risk while behind the wheel.
