The state Department of Environmental Conservation is accepting registrations for a summer teacher institute July 28-29 at Reinstein Woods Environmental Education Center, 93 Honorine Drive.
The program is geared for educators of students in kindergarten through 8th grade, running from 9 a.m. to 3:30 each day. Participants receive written mateirals they can use at their schools.
Teachers learn effective techniques to enhance their teaching in math, English languarge arts, science and other subject areas. Hands-on activities that align with Common Core learning standards cover topics about invasive species, tree and plant identification and bird-classroom connections.
Registration forms are available online or by contacting Reinsten Woods at 683-5959. Space is limited. Teachers must register by July 10.
