Continual war inflicts permanent damage on all
A May 22 letter writer gave all Americans an important insight of how wide we should direct our vision as we remember those who sacrificed life and limb to preserve the freedoms articulated and imbedded in our Constitution. It is important for our national consciousness and conscience that our memorials also include those men and women who raised our consciousness and challenged our consciences to consider the permanent damage continual war inflicts on ourselves and ingrained animosity it perpetuates!
Look before you leap is advice that we and all our political leaders should take to heart before we contemplate any use of force to solve conflicts. This is the lesson of human history. I hope we have learned it well as we move forward into this 21st century.
