Two agencies in Erie County – Gateway-Longview and Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth – have been awarded a total of $102,980 in grants through the state Office of Children and Family Services to provide Kinship Caregiver services for children, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced Wednesday.
The program provides a variety of services to relatives and close non-relatives who provide homes for children who cannot live safely with their parents. In all, grants were given to 13 agencies statewide.
“By funding these programs,” said Sheila J. Poole, acting commissioner of OCFS, “we are helping to connect grandparents, aunts, uncles and other relatives to the resources they need.”
