May 27, 1980: New Hilton is a sign of life on Buffalo's waterfront

Thirty-five years ago, most of the area we now celebrate as Buffalo’s waterfront was overgrown and filled with vestiges of Buffalo’s lake port past.

On the downtown side of the 190, however, there were some signs of hope. Channel 7 had just opened a new studio building in an area that was once, partially, railroad rightaways.

Then, across the street, rose the new Hilton Hotel (now the Adam’s Mark) bringing the first large-scale downtown hotel development in decades.
