Jamestown heroin suspect arrested after car chase

JAMESTOWN – A 36-year-old Jamestown man was charged with a felony count of heroin possession after a brief high speed chase through city streets early Wednesday afternoon, according to the Jamestown Police.

Juan A. Velazquez was allegedly observed by a police patrol officer driving erratically at a high speed along Bowen and Bush streets about 12:06 p.m. but instead of stopping for the patrol vehicle he took off and was the subject of a high speed chase until he crashed into a dumpster on Stafford Street. Velazquez allegedly had 50 bags of heroin in his vehicle and he is being held on a felony charge of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and numerous Vehicle and Traffic infractions. He faces proceedings in the case in Jamestown City Court, police officials said.
