Six flee fire Tuesday morning in Buffalo home

A fire forced six people from a home early Tuesday morning in Buffalo’s Broadway-Bailey neighborhood.

The fire at 130 Wick St., a 1½-story frame structure, was reported at about 6 a.m. It started in the back of the first floor and spread upward, according to Buffalo fire officials.

Firefighters arriving on the scene reported that all occupants had gotten out of the building. Two puppies were rescued from a front room in the house.

Damage was estimated at $70,000 to the structure and $15,000 to its contents. The cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.

The Red Cross was called to assist two adults and four children who lived in the home.
