WILSON – The 43rd annual Wilson Historical Society Memorial Day Fair is planned for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday on the museum grounds at 645 Lake St., where the American Legion will hold a special Memorial Day flag-raising ceremony at noon.
The event kicks off with a flea market with more than 250 vendors, and entertainment will be provided by the Bar Room Buzzards. The Antique Car Museum also will be open and a special section on the grounds will be provided for the display of the public’s antique and collectible cars, with dash plaques for those who participate.
The fair also will feature a full gamut of food, from Chiavetta’s chicken barbecue (from 10:30 a.m. until it’s gone), hot dogs and hamburgers, cotton candy, homemade pies, sno-cones, coffee and doughnuts, soft drinks, bottled water and other goodies.
The Museum Depot will be open for visitors, featuring exhibits and displays. The caboose, Fittro Shop, one-room schoolhouse and the Tugwell Cabin also will be open to the public.
Parking is free at the museum and a free shuttle bus service provided throughout the village will transport people to and from the grounds.
The event is the largest fundraiser of the year for the historical society.
