Orange Street man faces charges in scuffle with police

An Orange Street man who battled police in the presence of four children, knocking over his 2-year-old daughter, faces several charges, including felony second-degree assault, following a disturbance in a Navel Avenue house off Bailey Avenue, Buffalo police said.

Police said Officers R. Crespo and T. Ciszek responded to domestic disturbance call Saturday, when they were confronted by Shariff Shadwick, 28, who was intoxicated. Police said Shadwick was threatening and attempts to place him under arrest “were met with a great deal of resistance.” As police attempted to to arrest him, Shadwick knocked over his 2-year-old daughter, according to police..

Shadwick was charged with felony second-degree assault, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree harassment and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors, and disorderly conduct, a violation. Child Protective Services was notified, police said.
