Norman Reimers, former News pressroom manager

Jan. 19, 1929 – May 21, 2015

Norman J. Reimers Jr., a former pressroom manager at The Buffalo News, died at home in Depew on Thursday after a six-month battle with cancer. He was 86.

Born in Binghamton, Mr. Reimers attended Pine Hill High School and served in the Navy from 1950 to 1954, where he remained stateside, stationed mostly in Florida.

Mr. Reimers worked at The News for about 45 years, starting as an apprentice pressman, moving up to pressman and eventually becoming the pressroom manager, a position he held for about 10 years until he retired in 1992.

He was a member of the F.J. Donovan Post 1626, American Legion, in Cheektowaga. He also did woodworking.

Mr. Reimers was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, the former Susan McCabe, in 1991.

He is survived by three daughters, Nancy, Patricia and Susan; two sons, Paul and David; a brother, Joseph; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

A funeral service was held Saturday night at Amigone Funeral Home in Cheektowaga.
