Herman seeking second term as Town of Niagara highway chief

TOWN OF NIAGARA – Town of Niagara Highway Superintendent Robert Herman has announced his bid for a second term.

Herman, a Democrat, pointed to first-term accomplishments, including the in-house resurfacing of 28 town roadways. Two years ago, several town highway workers attended paving school in Pennsylvania and acquired the skills to do the job at a savings to taxpayers, said Herman, who added that his goal is to complete the resurfacing of 85 percent of all town roads within the next few years.

He said he also initiated a leaf-collection service for the town after running pilot programs for the past two years and last year was able to purchase a leaf-vacuum machine.

A former councilman, Herman said he has a good relationship with the Town Board.
