Driver on cellphone charged with felony DWI in Town of Dunkirk

DUNKIRK — A Fredonia woman who was stopped during a Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office “Click it or Ticket” seat-belt enforcement operation in the Town of Dunkirk was charged with felony driving while intoxicated while driving under the influence of drugs, according to the Chautauuqa County Sheriff’s office.

Deputies said Mallory K. Zanghi, 31, of Straight Road, Fredonia, was stopped just after 1:30 p.m. Saturday on Route 60 after deputies saw her using her mobile phone while driving and failing to yield the right of way while making a left turn.

Deputies also found two controlled substances in her possession, they said. Because she had a prior conviction for driving while intoxicated, Zanghi was charged with felony DWI and seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance.
