NFTA announces some traffic, rail service changes during Sunday’s marathon

The Buffalo Marathon on Sunday is prompting some traffic and Metro Rail service changes, the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority announced Friday.

One side of the 600 Block of Main Street will be closed to vehicles Sunday. The inbound (west lane) of Main Street will be closed from Tupper Street to Chippewa Street starting at 7 a.m. until about noon, due to the routing of the Buffalo Marathon. However, the outbound (or east lane) will be open during this time.

Also, Metro Rail will be operating single-track service on the inbound track between Seneca Street Station and Allen Medical Campus Station during this time.

Outbound passengers using a mobility device must board the last car to be able to exit at platform level at an aboveground station.

Regular rail service will operate between Allen Medical Campus Station and University Station.
