The Get Money Squad to vie for BOOM finals

Urban surf act The Get Money Squad will take part in the latest live showdown for Artvoice’s annual BOOM (Battle of Original Music) competition Friday at Nietzsche’s.

Led by Network MC Quinton Brock, backed by producer Jon Bap and filled out by the former backing band to Royal Tongues [Read a Buffalo Music Spotlight on them], the five-piece will ride the laid back vibes of its 2014 debut EP, “Nothing’s Wrong," (think Shuggie Otis meets Mac DeMarco), on to the Allentown stage.

The Get Money Squad will square off against fellow weekly winners Uncle Ben’s Remedy, Rustic Radio and Jess Chizuk, and the winner of Friday’s battle will be a part of the final four acts, set to compete June 5 at the Tralf Music Hall for a chance to win $5000 and an opening slot in this year’s Kerfuffle down at Canalside.

Friday’s BOOM begins around 10 p.m., with The Get Money Squad set to take the stage right around midnight. Cover is $5 at the door.
