Letter: Tennessee firm might be ill-suited to run harbor

Tennessee firm might be ill-suited to run harbor

I applaud Rep. Brian Higgins and Assemblyman Michael P. Kearns for following through on the promise of not charging a $5 parking fee at the Small Boat Harbor. This should absolutely be public access property.

The News quoted Darby Campbell of Tennessee-based Safe Harbor Development: “Bottom line is, we’re trying to be a good citizen, do the right thing and not go broke doing it.” If the company is afraid of going broke due to free parking, maybe it should have reconsidered bidding on the contract to run the complex.
