Falls man pleads guilty to 7-Eleven stickup

LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man who, according to State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr., “does suffer from mental illness,” pleaded guilty Wednesday to robbing a 7-Eleven store Feb. 8 on Buffalo Avenue in the Falls.

Shane M. Rossman, 36, was released from jail after his plea to third-degree robbery. He could be sentenced to as long as seven years in prison when he returns to court Aug. 12, but for now, he’s under probation supervision with an assignment to Niagara Falls Mental Health Court.

“I think if you have supervision you can stay away from troubles,” Kloch told Rossman. The case against a co-defendant, Denise Messner, 24, of 26th Street in the Falls, is still pending in Niagara Falls City Court, officials there said.
