The former chief financial officer at Oracle Charter School on Delaware Avenue has admitted overpaying herself by more than $27,000 during the seven months she worked there in 2013.
Krista B. Schultz, 44, of Mount Vernon Road, Snyder, pleaded guilty last week to third-degree grand larceny in connection with a payroll fraud scheme while she was CFO from March 13, 2013 to Oct. 21, 2013, according to Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III. During that time, she overpaid herself by $27,567, Sedita said.
The theft was discovered after the school retained a local accounting firm to assist with preparation for the school’s annual audit by an independent auditor.
Schultz faces up to seven years in prison when State Supreme Court Justice Penny M. Wolfgang sentences her Sept. 1.
