Young people asked to volunteer at the North Tonawanda Library

NORTH TONAWANDA – Young people entering grades 6 to 12 are invited to participate in a summer volunteer program – Junior Friends, at the North Tonawanda Public Library, 505 Meadow Drive.

Interested young people must attend an informational meeting from 3:45 to 5 p.m. June 4, at the library. Registration is required to attend the meeting, in person or by calling 693-4132, ext. 5. Parents are asked to stay for the meeting.

Junior Friends can volunteer to read to younger children as a Book Buddy, sign–up for a weekly shift in the Children’s Department to assist with the Summer Reading Club game, help younger children on computers, or assist in other programs. Junior Friends will also be needed to help coordinate the library’s annual parade.

The program is an opportunity for students to fill required volunteer hours for scouts, church organizations, honor societies and high schools.

Students may want to bring $5 to the first meeting in order to purchase a Junior Friends T-shirt uniform, which is being sold by the Friends of the Library.
