Appenheimer Avenue couple arrested for stealing an SUV

A 21-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl, both of Appenheimer Avenue, were arrested in the first block of that street early Monday as they allegedly walked away from an SUV they were accused of having stolen when its owner left it with the engine still running at Genesee and Kehr streets late Sunday evening.

Travante D. Johnson and Nychelle E. Hagans were both charged with fourth and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after police reportedly received a number of 911 calls about them allegedly riding around the neighborhood in the stolen vehicle.
