NORTH TONAWANDA – Mayor Arthur G. Pappas was out pounding the pavement with other volunteers on Friday, delivering meals to senior citizens in the North Tonawanda Meals on Wheels program.
The mayor and North Tonawanda Common Council have proclaimed May as “NT Meals on Wheels Month,” which prompted Pappas to volunteer on one of the delivery routes.
“I wanted to participate and help out with this worthy cause,” Pappas said. “I also want to thank the 120 volunteers who participate in this program all year long, preparing and delivering over 540 meals to our residents each week.”
The community was invited to participate by donating into one of the 226 collection jars that have been set up at various locations throughout the city or by becoming a Meals on Wheels volunteer.
