Convicted burglar turns child molester

LOCKPORT – A Wheatfield man who was on probation for stealing more than $5,000 from his aunt’s safe in 2012 pleaded guilty Friday to molesting a boy last October.

James E. Hebert Jr., 23, of Plaza Drive, is to be sentenced for attempted first-degree sexual abuse and for violating probation in the burglary case Aug. 7 by State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr., who said he would impose a concurrent sentence of up to four years in prison.

The victim of the sex crime was under the age of 11. Besides the new crime, Hebert admitted that he violated probation by not getting a job and by leaving Niagara County without permission of a probation officer.
