An aerial and water search was underway in Chautauqua Lake for a fisherman reported missing Thursday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
David R. Spink, age 64, of Varysburg, New York was last seen leaving Camp Prendergast around 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening to spend the night fishing. He had planned to launch at Prendergast Point and pick up a friend near Magnolia, but never showed up.
He was reported missing the following day by concerned family members who were unable to contact him.
His unoccupied boat was discovered on shore at Long Point State Park on Thursday evening.
His truck and empty boat trailer were recovered at the Prendergast Point Public Boat Launch.
The Sheriff’s Office was searching the north basin of Chautauqua Lake Friday, assisted by the Bemus Point Fire Department and the New York State Police.
Anyone with information related to Spink’s disappearance is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 753-2131.
