West Chippewa Street man arrested for using pool cue as weapon

A 29-year-old West Chippewa Street man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly using a pool cue as a weapon to hit a neighbor on the back of her head during an argument.

Daniel S. Smith was charged with a felony count of second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon after a police officer reported recovering the broken pool cue. The woman was checked at the scene by a Rural Metro ambulance crew for the swelling they noticed on the back of her head, according to a police report.
