MAYVILLE – The title of “Best Tasting Drinking Water in Chautauqua County” for 2015 will be awarded after a contest on Saturday at Chautauqua Mall. Drinking water from the public water systems that serve Frewsburg, Jamestown and Mayville will be available to sample between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
“This is an important contest because it helps celebrate National Drinking Water Week, an opportunity for us to encourage the public to protect and conserve our drinking water – the most important resource we have,” said Christine Schuyler, the county’s director of health and human services.
The contest is co-sponsored by the county Department of Health and Human Services, the county Water Works Association and the county Water Quality Task Force. The lineup for this year’s contest features past winners from previous years so judging is expected to be close.
The winner from the county competition will go on to compete against other counties in Western New York and that winner would go on to the statewide completion.
