Here's a look at the University at Buffalo football roster, broken down by class.
Things that jump out include the youth on the defensive line and in the defensive backfield. There is opportunity for a lot of young players to see significant playing time on the defensive line and at safety.
The prospective starting defensive tackles are Brandon Crawford and Max Perisse, both of whom saw starting time last season. End is wide open. The top recruits were junior college transfer Torey Hendrick and true freshman Charles Harris. The hoard working at end in spring included: Solomon Jackson, Demone Harris (a walk-on), Zach Smekal, Randy Anyanwu, Corey Henderson, Jake Khoury, and Myles Nicholas. The tackle depth is a tad thin. It includes sophomore Chris Ford, redshirt freshmen Gusty Schwartzmeier and incoming freshmen Christian Gonzalez, Duke Hwang and Justin Brandon. Obviously, a few of the ends (like Henderson) could flex to tackle.
The numbers include only scholarship players, not walk-ons. We have 89 players counted, and only 85 are on scholarship. So we have a few unidentified walk-ons in the chart.
