The Aurora Historical Society welcomes donations of vintage and new things – from commemorative dishes and gifts to books and household goods – for its Treasures Sale coming up Saturday, May 31.

To arrange for a pickup, call 652-4735 or write Susan McBurney at mcburney14052@gmail.com. Electronics, clothing, large appliances, textbooks and periodicals cannot be accepted.

On sale day, “early birds” can start shopping at 8 a.m. for a $10 donation. Free admission begins at 9 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of East Aurora, 591 Porterville Road.

From 2-3 p.m., buy a $5 grocery bag and fill it with sale leftovers. Money raised will support the Society’s three museums and education.

Also, the Aurora Women’s Club will host a hospice fundraising dinner from 5 - 9 p.m. Thursday, May 21, at Riley Street Station restaurant, 27 Riley St. Call 655-4948 for reservations.

This week:

• The Town of Aurora meets at 7 p.m. Monday at Southside Municipal Center, 300 Gleed Avenue.

East Aurora Schools

• A “meet the candidates” night for those running for the East Aurora School Board will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at t East Aurora Middle School, 430 Main St.

Incumbents Marybeth Covert, who serves as School Board President, and Trustee Kimberlee Danieu are each seeking to continue on the board, and will be challenged by Douglas Crow. The seats carry three-year terms. The forum is sponsored by the League of Women Voters.

The annual budget and trustee vote will be held on Tuesday, May 19.
