Sen. Gillibrand to discuss medical marijuana bill

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-NY, will discuss a bill in the U.S. Senate that would stop federal prosecution of people who prescribe, dispense and use medical marijuana in states like New York where its use for medical purposes is legal, when she meets with constituents at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Dent Neurological Building, 3980 Sheridan Drive, Amherst.

Gillibrand, a co-sponsor of the bill, will be joined by families who are seeking medical marijuana treatment.

Sens. Cory Booker, D-NJ; Rand Paul, R-Ky.; and Barbara Boxer, D-Calif.; also are co-sponsors of the Compassionate Access, Research Expansion and Respect States (CARERS) Act that was introduced in March.
