LOCKPORT – The five volunteer fire companies that serve the Town of Lockport have agreed to new five-year contracts with the town that would give the companies 3 percent subsidy increases each year.
The Town Board has scheduled a public hearing for 7:d30 p.m. June 3 on the deals with the South Lockport, Rapids, Wrights Corners, Terry’s Corners and Gasport fire companies.
South Lockport is being paid $358,541 this year by the town. Wrights Corners and Rapids are receiving $341,375 each; Terry’s Corners is paid $26,609; and Gasport is receiving $23,742. The latter two companies’ districts are primarily in Royalton and they serve only small slices of Lockport.
Under the terms of the contract, after five years of 3 percent raises, in 2020 South Lockport would be receiving $415,647; Rapids and Wrights Corners $395,747 each; Terry’s Corners $30,847; and Gasport $27,523.
