DUNKIRK – A Dunkirk man charged following a raid Thursday is suspected of operating an elaborate marijuana-growing operation at 35 W. Third St.
Pedro Solares, 60, was arrested after the operation by the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force, Dunkirk Police and Chautauqua County Probation Department. Agents had to break through the heavily fortified doors and windows of the building, authorities said.
Seized were growing marijuana worth $50,000, processed marijuana and a grow system, as well as records linked to the operation, authorities said.
Dunkirk City Judge Walter Drag issued a search warrant for the raid. Solares was released on his own recognizance after arraignment on a single charge of unlawfully growing marijuana. Further charges and arrests are anticipated, authorities added.
