Niagara Falls police probe two more copper thefts

NIAGARA FALLS – Copper pipe valued at $10,000 was stolen from a vacant three-story house in the 1300 block of Niagara Street, police said.

The theft was one of two unrelated copper thefts investigated Wednesday by Niagara Falls police.

A Niagara Street property manager told police that between last Friday and Wednesday, someone pried open a door and took copper pipes from both the first and third floors. Police said it appeared that the thief or thieves rigged power from a broken electrical box and stole the copper at night. Damages were estimated at $655.

Locks have been repeatedly cut off the vacant house, which is under repair.

Meanwhile, a home in the 2000 block of Ferry Avenue was broken into overnight Sunday. Copper pipes worth $200 were taken from the basement, police said.
