Sidewalk construction moves forward under ‘Safe Routes’ plan

LOCKPORT – Installation of new sidewalks is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday on Locust Street Extension in Lockport, one of four streets covered by a $477,816 sidewalk construction plan funded by a state “Safe Routes to School” grant.

Catherine H. Knab of Wendel, the engineering firm that designed the project, announced the schedule Tuesday. Roman Construction Development Corp. of Pendleton is carrying out the work on Locust, East High and Corinthia streets and Hi-Point Drive. Work began last week on Hi-Point, which the sidewalk is being laid on school property behind Emmet Belknap Intermediate School. Sidewalks were installed last week on Corinthia Street.
