Robert F. Buyers, of Clarence, who owned and operated a cement company, died April 25 in Sarasota, Fla., where he had spent the winter with his daughter. He was 94.
Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Parker High School in Clarence. He worked for 22 years for Buffalo Crushed Stone before starting his own business.
With his wife of 59 years, the former Betty Gray, who died in 2013, he owned and operated Robert F. Buyers Ready Mix Concrete in Lancaster for more than 25 years, retiring in the early 1980s.
Mr. Buyers was the oldest member of Harris Hill United Methodist Church and had been a Mason for 75 years.
A founding member of the Western New York Antique Truck Association, he also was a member of the Clarence Historical Society and donated a rare 1923 Buffalo Tractor Truck to its museum.
Survivors include a daughter, Yvonne Buyers-Hicks; and a grandchild.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Harris Hill United Methodist Church, 8495 Main St. at Harris Hill Road, Clarence.
