Ohio Street building approved in Buffalo

Ellicott Development Co.’s proposal for a five-story, mixed-use building at 399 Ohio St. won Buffalo Planning Board approval Tuesday.

The $5 million project calls for a total of 21 apartments on three floors, plus 10,000 square feet of commercial office space on the second floor and two restaurants dividing another 10,000 square feet on the first floor. Tom Fox, Ellicott’s director of development, said the firm is talking with potential commercial tenants and local restaurateurs but couldn’t identify anyone yet.

Officials are hoping to start construction in early July, with completion targeted for early next year, Fox said.
