The Buffalo AFL-CIO Central Labor Council is preparing to elect a new president, after Michael Hoffert stepped down from the position citing personal reasons.
Hoffert had led the council since he was first elected in 2006. Nominations for the position will be taken in June; whomever is elected will fill Hoffert’s unexpired term, which has about one and a half years remaining. Hoffert’s replacement will also take his seat on the Erie County Industrial Development Agency’s board of directors.
The Buffalo AFL-CIO Central Labor Council is one of five councils in the region that comprise the Western New York Area Labor Federation.
