LOCKPORT – The 19th annual Mother’s Day Breast Cancer Canal Walk will start with registration at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Goehle-Widewaters Marina pavilon on Market Street.
The walk, which gets underway at 1 p.m., will use the Erie Canalway Trail and part of Market Street for 1-mile and 2-mile routes.
There is no advance registration for walkers, who are urged to line up pledges in advance. All walkers who donate at least $25 will receive a T-shirt and gift bag. There is no fee for registration.
A basket auction will follow the walk. Donations will be used to help fund Mary’s Wig Room at the local American Cancer Society office. The free wigs are for women who lose their hair during cancer treatments. Since its inception, the walk has raised more than $400,000.
Donations also can be made by sending a check to Mother’s Day Breast Cancer Canal Walk, P.O. Box 436, Lockport, NY 14095, or through breastcancercanalwalk.org.
