Niagara County Health Dept. plans disease workshops

LOCKPORT – The Niagara County Health Department is taking registrations now for two disease management workshops: one strictly for diabetes, the other for any chronic disease.

The free workshop on living with diabetes will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Fridays, beginning May 22, in the North Tonawanda Senior Center, 110 Goundry St. It’s a six-week program to help diabetics improve their food choices, increase physical activity and maintain weight loss.

A free six-week workshop to assist patients who suffer from any chronic disease will take place from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays, starting May 21, in the Dale Association, 33 Ontario St., Lockport.

Registration for either course is available by calling the Health Department at 278-1900 or the county Office for the Aging at 438-3030.
