HOCKEY: The Paul Grunditsch Schools are accepting applications for three specialty clinics. The shooting and stickhandling clinic uses various techniques to improve players’ creative skills while carrying the puck. The class is for intermediate to advanced players ages 9-13 and will cover all the shots of the game. The program will be held at Leisure Rinks July 13-16 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. The defenseman school is open to house league and travel players ages 10-13 and has been developed to improve a player’s total defensive skills. All aspects of the defenseman’s role in today’s game will be covered. The program will be held at Leisure Rinks July 20-23. The power skating and skills school will be three separate programs at Leisure Rinks (July 6-10 for ages 6-9 or Aug. 3-7 and Aug. 10-14 for ages 6-9 and 9-13. The class will feature a heavy emphasis on power skating instruction along with puck handling skills including shooting, stickhandling and passing. SOCCER: The Cheektowaga Youth and Recreation Services Department is looking for adult men’s and coed teams for its indoor summer league beginning May 11. Games will be played on an indoor boarded Sport Court surface on Monday evenings.
